Our Jewish Community has grown steadily since Julius Houseman settled here in 1852. Within five years, he and those who followed him had established the first Jewish organization in Grand Rapids--the Jewish Benevolent and Burial Society.
Today we continue to grow. Our community now includes these strong organizations:
Chabad House of West Michigan
Congregation Ahavas Israel
Jewish Cultural Council
Jewish Federation of Grand Rapids
Jewish Theatre Grand Rapids
Temple Emanuel
Their vital work enhances our heritage, education and culture. They serve as a link and a lifeline to Jews locally, nationally and internationally.
We named this opportunity L'Dor Vador: From Generation to Generation. L'Dor Vador is an appropriate name for the Funds. Here is a partial list of how they will benefit our community and our future:
Strengthen our commitment to our youth.
Enhance religious, spiritual and cultural opportunities at our affiliated organizations.
Expand emergency services to those in need.
Provide additional support to our aging population.
Further leadership training and opportunities at our affiliated organizations.

You can demonstrate your commitment to our future by supporting the Endowment funds of the Grand Rapids Jewish Community. Giving opportunities can be customized and may assist your community, while providing substantial tax savings for you and/or your estate. Some examples include:
One-time gifts of cash property or securities; or
Pledges paid over several years; or
Bequests or life income gifts, such as annuities or unitrusts
We will be happy to explain these options in more detail. Each of us must take part in creating this link between the generations.
As with any major financial decision, you'll want to discuss this with your loved ones and financial advisor. Then contact us. We'll meet with you or mail you more details on how you can help build the L'Dor Vador Funds.
Your gift to the Endowment Funds of the Grand Rapids Jewish Community will be used to support the efforts of local Jewish organizations. The Endowment Funds Committee itself is composed of a representative from each of our participating organizations. You may direct your donation to one or more of our Funds:
